The seniors begin their year with a research project on the history of the English language. This will tie into the literature they read this year and things they've read in the past. Their first piece of literature is Beowulf, concentrating on the issues of monster vs. hero, religion, and the Anglo-Saxon culture presented in the epic. This will lead them on to stories of King Arthur, Sherlock Holmes, and the famous Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Throughout the year they will progress through time, moving from Anglo-Saxon to Renaissance texts while focusing on comprehension, analysis, and writing skills.
The second half of their senior year in this class will focus more on life skills as students prepare for graduation. Resumes and interview skills will be a huge focus, while also doing some fun reflective creative writing/projects.
